Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson has been fined $50,000 for “aggressive stalking, reprimanding and inadvertent contact with a game official,” the NBA announced Saturday.
The league statement said the incident occurred 10:59 before the end of the fourth quarter of Cleveland’s 126-113 loss to Cleveland. Phoenix Suns Friday.
Atkinson was assessed his second technical foul of the game when he stormed the field after Sam Merrill was not called for a drive on Collin Gillespie after colliding with an official before being escorted out and ejected from the game.

Atkinson jabbed his arm at the nearby referee before the whistle blew.
Atkinson tore into the officials in a post-match press conference.

“We got one free throw after three quarters against a team (ranked 26th in fouls),” Atkinson said. “And the second free throw we got was a miss. I’m not happy. I thought the game got out of hand, quite frankly. Parts of the game looked like a circus, quite frankly. I don’t know if that’s what we want as a league.”
“Some personalities in this league take liberties, and we don’t take them. The game turns into reviews and challenges, go to the screen for 20 minutes when we’re just trying to play basketball.
