Brown’s Carson Schweisinger was named the 2025 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

Cleveland Browns Rookie linebacker Carson Schweisinger was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2025 NFL season.
Schweisinger won the award New York Giants Abdul Carter, Nick Imanori of the Seattle Seahawks, Xavier Watts of the Atlanta Falcons, and James Pierce Jr.
Schwisinger finished with 40 of the 50 first-place votes, beating out Imanori who came in second place with a total of 199 points and seven first-place votes.

Schwisinger was the favorite on the night after a great year at middle linebacker for a formidable Browns defense despite what the record might say in 2025.
He is also the fifth pick outside of the first round to win the award in the last 40 seasons.
Second round pick Outside the University of California He led all rookies with 146 combined tackles, placing him in the top five all-time in tackles in his rookie season.
Schwisinger also tallied two interceptions, 11 tackles for loss and three passes defensed.

Schvesinger has also suffered an ankle injury this season, playing 16 of 17 games for Kevin Stefanski’s club. He recorded 2.5 sacks and nine quarterback hits as well, showing his ability to get to the quarterback.
Speaking of the coaching staff, the team gave Schvesinger the “green dot” on his helmet, meaning he was calling the defense in the huddle for Cleveland all season as a rookie.
While the spotlight is on the first players, it’s the players after the first day of the NFL Draft that make a team complete.

The Browns clearly got the No. 2 spot right last year, as Schwisinger has proven to be a key piece, and he has the hardware to prove it now.
