Both Soler and Reynaldo Lopez were suspended for 7 games following an MLB altercation

Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler and Braves outfielder Reynaldo Lopez were both suspended seven games for their roles in the bench vacating case.

Lopez made a pitch to Soler, which the latter seemed to object to. Soler then attacked Lopez, and the two began exchanging numerous punches – many of which did not land.

Soler what? It was eaten on the ground by Braves manager Walt Weiss before any major damage was done, and Lopez was forced out of the ceremony.

“It’s just a shame, the situation and how things have developed,” Lopez said through a translator. to MLB.com. “For my part, there was no intention of hitting him at any time. So, again, it’s just a shame.”

Soler hit a home run off Lopez in the first inning. He’s 14 of 23 with five home runs and three doubles against Lopez throughout.

“Obviously I have good numbers against him,” Soler said. “Having a home run and getting hit on the field afterward, and then he missed it really high and close to my head. At this level, you can’t miss like that.”

Both players are appealing the suspensions. As for Lopez, if the suspension continues, he will miss one start, but perhaps Atlanta can manipulate the rotation to at least keep him on the sidelines.
