A live opossum was found hiding among stuffed animals in an airport gift shop

Liam Bloomfield, retail manager at Hobart Airport in Tasmania, said a shopper first noticed the wild animal in the store on Wednesday.
“It was reported by a passenger… to a female employee on duty who couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing,” Bloomfield told the Associated Press. “Then I called (airport) management and said we had an opossum in the store.”

“I imagine he saw some plush animals that were for sale on the shelf and decided to make his home with them,” Bloomfield joked about why the opossum would hide with stuffed toys. “He wanted to blend in.”

“Can you spot the imposter?” The airport wrote in a Facebook post Thursday showing the opossum curled up in a pod with its stuffed counterparts.
“This missing opossum found a clever hiding among the luxurious Australian animals in our retail store,” the airport continued. “Fortunately it was safely moved out of the station area and the space was cleaned.”

Bloomfield said the possums not only found their way to the airport, but also found their hearts.
“We will have a little shrine to the opossum,” he revealed, according to The Independent. “There’ll be a nice little picture; once it gets a name, we’ll put a nice little flyer in front of the store to make sure we remember it.”
