Abbott criticized Minnesota’s Democratic states’ rights stance as “sheer hypocrisy” after the Biden years

“Hypocrisy is the choice of words that really applies to them, because all of a sudden, these states of Minnesota want to insist on states’ rights,” Abbott noted during an interview with Fox News Digital.

In 2021, Abbott launched “Operation Lone Star,” which deployed state troopers and the Texas National Guard to the border and funded wall construction to deter illegal crossings. A lawsuit was filed against him by the administration in the same year. Abbott said Texas’s conflict with the Biden administration is fundamentally different from the debate in Minnesota and elsewhere Sanctuary countries.

“Texas insisted on states’ rights, but in reality, what we were doing in Texas during the Biden administration, we were simply trying to enforce federal immigration laws that Joe Biden He explained, “What we see in Minnesota is complete chaos, complete chaos, because what they were doing was not trying to enforce the law; rather, they were refusing to enforce it.” “They are trying to interfere with law enforcement.”

“My job as governor was to make sure we used every tool to secure the border, and it worked,” he explained. “Joe Biden has told Texas to take matters into our own hands because of the lack of safety he has instilled in the country. Look at the millions of people who have crossed the border illegally. Look at the criminals, rapists, and murderers who have come to Houston, Texas, that Joe Biden has let in.”

He added: “We are a nation built on the rule of law, and the rule of law must be applied. When it is applied, it leads to safer communities.”

The result, according to Abbott, was a reduction of more than 85 percent Illegal immigration in the state and a concurrent decline of more than 40 percent in fentanyl deaths.

Now, Abbott is running for re-election on a platform that he says will work to make Texas a top destination for people looking not only for economic opportunity, but also “the opportunity to be free to live their own lives.”

One of the key issues Abbott is working on is a plan to lower property taxes in Texas during the upcoming legislative session. Abbott has proposed a five-step overhaul of Texas’ property tax system that includes limiting the growth of local government spending to population growth or inflation, requiring two-thirds of voters to approve local property tax increases, allowing voters to hold rollback elections with a broad threshold of 15 percent, capping home assessment growth at 3 percent and expanding that cap to all properties, requiring assessments only once every five years, and seeking a constitutional amendment to allow voters to eliminate school district property taxes for homeowners.

While many Democrats, like U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, have predicted the Lone Star State is about to turn blue, Abbott believes the GOP is well-positioned to win next November.

“As long as Republicans stay engaged, as long as we are able to cast our votes, we will win this election and win it easily, but also, which is very important, when we show the contrast between Republicans and Democrats,” he said. “We just had a forum here talking about cutting property taxes. Democrats are against cutting property taxes in Texas, and Democrats are in favor of defunding the police, while Republicans believe in law and order and law enforcement. Democrats have advocated crazy open border policies, where Republicans are fighting to close the border, enforce immigration laws, and not let people in illegally.”

Abbott said he intends to go on the offensive this election, even challenging Democrats in areas long written off as blue strongholds, such as Harris County, where City of Houston He sits.

“I take every election seriously. I don’t take anything for granted,” he said. “We are constantly fighting against Democrats in this state who believe in defunding the police. We fought and won a battle here in Houston, Texas, where we had socialist judges who let killers get out of prison on low bail, and then come back and kill someone else. We passed laws that suppress that here in Texas.”

“Texas is the most flammable state in the entire United States of America,” Abbott continued. “I’ve met people who moved from New York and other states because they wanted to get out of the chaos and communism in those states and come to a state that really believed in capitalism, but also in opportunities of all kinds.”

“So our goal is to make sure that we continue to pass policies that keep Texas attractive,” he concluded. “It’s a constant battle against socialists, whether they’re in Minneapolis or Houston or Texas or… Austin, TexasBut truth and the rule of law will always prevail.”
