Bam Adebayo scored a historic 83 points, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s record in a single game

Adebayo scored 83 points, all while scoring the league’s most valuable free throws made and attempted in a 150-129 win over the Miami Heat. Washington Wizards. It is the second-highest scoring game ever by any player, behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s famous 100-point game.

“It was a very surreal night,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters after the game.

Adebayo started the first quarter with 31 points. He was up to 43 in the first half and 62 by the end of the third quarter. Then came the fourth, when the milestones continued to fall despite facing two-and-threes and what once appeared to be a four-man team from the Wizards’ defense that kept sending them to the foul line.

He finished 20-of-43 from the field, 36-of-43 from the foul line, and 7-for-22 from 3-point range.

After the match, he was seen crying while hugging his mother, Marilyn Blount, before leaving the ground after the match.

“Welp will no longer have the highest level of employment in the house,” Adebayo’s girlfriend said. Four-time WNBA MVP “But at least this gives me something to strive for,” Aja Wilson wrote on social media.

The previous best in the league this season was 56, by Nikola Jokic for Denver against Minnesota on Christmas Eve. Last player to score 62 points through three quarters: A basketball hero in Adebayo, Kobe Bryantwho had exactly that number during three quarters of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against Dallas on December 20, 2005.

He ended up passing Bryant for scoring in one game as well. Bryant’s best game of his career was 81, second on the NBA’s all-time scoring list for two decades.

Adebayo scored 31 points in the first quarter against the Wizards, breaking the Heat’s record for points in any quarter — and tying the team record for points in a first half before the second quarter even began.

He finished the first half with 43 points, a team record in any half and two points better than his previous career high — an entire game — of 41 points, set on January 23, 2021, Against Brooklyn.

Adebayo’s season-high on Tuesday was 32. He tied that with a free throw with 5:53 left in the second quarter, breaking the Heat’s first-half scoring record.

Adebayo’s 43-point first half was the second best in the NBA in at least the last 30 seasons — and goes back to the start of the digital era that began in the 1996-97 season.
