Machado says Venezuelan opposition leader Guanipa was arrested after his release

Maria Corina Machado On Monday, the Venezuelan authorities announced the arrest of the Venezuelan opposition leader in Caracas, shortly after his release from prison.
Juan Pablo Guanipa, a key ally, was kidnapped by heavily armed men in civilian clothes in the capital’s Los Choros district, Machado wrote in a post on X.
She added: “We demand his immediate release.”
Alfredo Romero, President Venezuelan human rights Foro Penal said 35 political prisoners were released on Sunday, including Gwaniba, who was initially arrested in May.

Reuters reported that the Venezuelan authorities are seeking court approval to place Guanipa under house arrest.
The country’s Public Ministry claimed that he had violated the terms of his release but did not provide additional details or say whether he had been arrested again.
Guanipa’s Primero Justicia party said on X that he was forced into a silver Toyota Corolla during the incident.

“We carry Delcy Rodriguez“Jorge Rodriguez and Diosdado Cabello are responsible for any harm caused to the life of Juan Pablo,” the party wrote. “We call on the international community to immediately release Juan Pablo Guanipa and to put an immediate and unconditional end to the persecution of the opposition.”
The US State Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Rodriguez has served as interim president of Venezuela since the United States took control of the country Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, earlier this year.

In late January, Pres Donald Trump He said Venezuela was releasing political prisoners at a “rapid rate,” praising the move as a “strong humanitarian gesture” by the country’s leadership.
An estimated 687 political prisoners remain in detention in Venezuela as of February 2, according to Foro Pinal.
