Nancy Mays introduces bill to target foreigners who abuse animals

She added: “We have a duty to protect the voiceless from torture and abuse. Cruelty to animals is a sure red flag for violence against people. These criminals are on the rise. Our bill makes it clear: Commit these sick acts and you will be deported. Immediately. No second chances.”

Mace, who has served in the House since 2021, is currently running for vice president South Carolina governor.

She noted, according to the statement, “The message is clear: mistreat animals, they will be deported. America will not be a haven for animal abusers, especially those who illegally entered our country in the first place. Pack your bags.”

Under this legislation, an alien convicted under state, tribal, or local laws relating to animal cruelty, abuse, or animal fighting would be deemed inadmissible and deportable. The bill also states that convictions under certain federal animal welfare laws would result in the same immigration consequences.

The proposal further states that an alien who admits to committing acts constituting such crimes could also be deemed inadmissible.
