NTSB warns of dangerous mid-air collision risk at Hollywood Burbank Airport

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held a meeting last week related to the January 2025 collision of a US Airways flight and a Black Hawk helicopter in the Potomac River.

Based on an analysis by the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), it temporarily lowered the traffic pattern at Van Nuys in February by 200 feet, in order to “minimize conflicts with aircraft landing at Burbank,” the FAA said in a statement.
