Jared Lamado, 32, stabbed Michelle Adams, 39, and wounded Dana Bunnell, 36, Mary C. Flood, 37, and Heather Miller, 40, according to Virginia State Police. Officials said the stabbings did not appear to be targeted, and none of the victims except the dog were in Lamadou’s car at the time. Lamado, who was armed with a knife, was shot in self-defense by a state trooper and died at a local hospital, authorities said. The soldier was not injured.
“A Virginia State Police Trooper was called to the scene at approximately 1:17 p.m. for a road rage incident. When the trooper arrived at the scene, he was confronted by a suspect wielding a knife,” Virginia State Police wrote in a news release. “The trooper then shot the suspect in self-defense. The suspect, Jared Lamado, 32, of McLean, Virginia, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Lamado later died from these injuries. The trooper was not injured.”

The US State Department confirmed that Lamado was an acting Foreign Service employee.
A State Department spokesperson said in a statement: “We are aware of the tragic accident involving a Foreign Service employee that occurred on Sunday, March 1, in Fairfax County, Virginia.” “We offer our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
On February 22, Lamado posted a photo with several friends on social media, looking happy and optimistic.

“Dinner with my long time Friends and co-workers“!” Lamado wrote, in what would be his final Facebook post.

According to the audio recording obtained by Fox News Digital, the stabbing incident “started as a property crash,” and then the suspect “started stabbing people with a knife.”
The dispatcher said there were “several casualties on the road.”
