“A lot of faculty openly hate our military,” he said. “They cast a negative light on our armed forces and crush anyone who challenges their left-wing political leanings, all while charging exorbitant fees. The announcement comes amid the ongoing dispute between the Trump administration and the Ivy League school.

Hegseth also criticized Harvard’s campus environment, alleging that research programs partnered with the Chinese Communist Party and that the university’s leadership encouraged an enthusiastically celebratory atmosphere. “Why should the War Department support an environment that is destructive to our nation and the principles that the vast majority of Americans hold dear?” Hegseth said. “The answer to that question is we shouldn’t, and we won’t.”

“For too long, this department has sent our best and brightest officers to Harvard, hoping that the university would better understand and appreciate our warrior class,” he continued. “Instead, too many of our officers have come back looking a lot like Harvard — heads full of globalist and extremist ideologies that do nothing to improve our fighting ranks.”
In addition to Harvard, Hegseth took aim at many Ivy League members, saying the schools had “pervasive institutional bias” and a lack of diversity of viewpoints, including the “indulgence of toxic ideologies,” which he said undermined the military’s mission.
He said that in the coming weeks, all departments are in Pentagon You will evaluate existing graduate programs for active duty service members at Ivy League schools and other civilian universities.

“The goal is to determine whether they actually provide cost-effective strategic education to future senior leaders, when compared to, for example, public universities and our military graduate programs,” he said. “At the War Department, we will strive to maximize the taxpayer value of building lethal weapons to achieve deterrence. It’s that simple. It no longer involves spending millions of dollars on expensive universities that undermine our mission and undermine our country.”
Hegseth concluded his letter by saying, “We train warriors, not warriors. Harvard, good riddance.”
