Tuberville defends controversial post comparing New York City Mayor Mamdani to 9/11

Tuberville shared a post last week that placed a photo of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers alongside a photo of Mamdani, who appeared to be hosting a Ramadan iftar party at City Hall. An account called “End Wokeness” posted the photos with a message that read, “Under 25.”

“The enemy is inside the gates,” Tuberville said on Channel X in response to the photo.

When asked to explain his post on social media platform X, Tuberville said: “I’m just following his rhetoric.”

“He’s made a lot of statements about his position on Islam and radical Islam, all the things that go along with what he advocates every day. And I’m just kind of repeating what he says,” the senator told DC News Now’s Rashad Hudson.

He continued: “We don’t need division in this country. We need everyone to adhere to the Constitution, and to understand that we have moral values. And if we all adhere to these values ​​- I don’t care if you are Muslim, Catholic or Baptist, it will not make a difference.”

He added: “We need to make the country better, we don’t need to divide it. And that’s what he’s doing in New York.”

The Alabama state representative and former college football coach stressed that he does not care about a person’s religious background.

He added: “Hey, come and be part of our country (and) don’t try to divide people, don’t try to promote your culture – we already have a culture – (then) I’m all for you.”

Tuberville published several social media posts on Tuesday targeting Islam.

“Radical Islam is the enemy of any freedom-loving American,” he said in one post. “The liberal media provides cover for radical Islamists, but the Qur’an is very clear about its instructions to kill all non-Muslims.”

“To anyone offended by my description of radical Islamic jihadists as the enemy: if the shoe fits, wear it,” he said in another post.

The senator’s initial post, “The Enemy Within the Gates,” which was pinned to the top of his X account as of Wednesday morning, sparked a campaign Severe rebuke from DemocratsAmong them is Mamdani, a Muslim.
