Tiger Woods has received court approval to travel abroad for treatment after a DUI arrest

It is not known where Woods will travel to receive treatment, although court documents included “the treatment facility will provide continuous monitoring and the ability to quickly modify treatment interventions in a highly controlled environment.”

Woods announced he was stepping away from golf to seek treatment and “focus on my health” following his DUI arrest following a rollover crash.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation in which I find myself today.” Woods said in a statement Posted on social media.

“I will be stepping away for a while to get treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward a lasting recovery.

“I am committed to taking the time necessary to return to a healthier, stronger, more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.”

Woods issued the statement Tuesday after pleading not guilty, waiving his right to indict him and requesting a jury trial. He was arrested for DUI with property damage and refusing to submit to a blood alcohol level (BAL) test after law enforcement said his car collided with another vehicle while he was driving.

After Woods was placed under arrest at the crash site, where law enforcement indicated he was “sweating profusely” in an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, he was found to have “two white pills” inside his pants pocket. They were later identified as hydrocodone, an opioid pain medication.

Woods underwent a breathalyzer test after being booked into the Martin County Jail, receiving a result of 0.00 on both samples. However, he refused to take a urine test, which led to another charge.

It is Woods’ second DUI arrest in the past decade. He was also detained on Jupiter Island in 2017 after falling asleep behind the wheel of a running car at 3 a.m. after taking prescription drugs.

Woods had just returned to Major League Golf earlier this month for his first round of competition since undergoing further surgery on his back while also needing to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

There was a chance Woods could appear at next week’s Masters, but Augusta National president Fred Ridley has confirmed Woods will not be in the field for the first major championship of 2026.

Woods’ TGL teammate, Kevin Kisner, also recently indicated that Woods signed up for the US Open, which kicks off in early July.
