The illegal immigrant accused of killing a pregnant teen in Ohio faces ICE detention

Tarsem Singh, an Indian national, was recently charged with vehicular homicide, manslaughter, and reckless homicide charges, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

He is being held on a $1 million bond and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ice) One of the detainees presented to Ohio authorities.

The deadly chase began on February 16 after a Darke County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed an SUV traveling approximately 25 mph over the speed limit.

The deputy attempted to catch up with the SUV, allegedly driven by Singh, and drove the vehicle at 100 mph, officials said.

When the deputy activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, the SUV sped off, traveling about five miles at speeds of up to 124 mph before striking an eastbound vehicle on a curve, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy immediately reported the crash to dispatch and checked for injuries, finding 17-year-old Ashley Holmes, Singh’s passenger, dead after being ejected from the car, local media reported. WDTN reported.

Singh was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was conscious and alert to her injuries, and was transported to Union City to Red Fee Hospital Richmond, Indianaaccording to the sheriff’s office.

Officials said the chase lasted less than three minutes from the time it began until the accident occurred.

It is unclear why Holmes was in Singh’s car.

“This is another tragic reminder of why illegal aliens should not drive on American roads,” acting Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Lauren Pace wrote in a statement. “A 17-year-old woman and her unborn child have now died as a result of the reckless actions of this illegal alien.”
